Stained glass and Mosaics are an enjoyable and satisfying hobbies. Classes are meant to be fun and relaxing and for you to have pride in creating something of beauty that will last a lifetime or beyond. We offer classes in Stained Glass, Mosaic and Glass Fusing for all levels of experience from beginners to advanced. Our personalized one on one methods are designed to enhance your learning experience.

We have a dedicated class room that will accommodate up to 12 students. Class size is typically 8 students. If class enrollment does not meet the minimum number of students, the class may be cancelled and all deposits will be refunded.

Our students do not need to purchase any tools, grinders, etc. to attend our beginning classes. We want you to be sure that you are interested in continuing with what you have learned before you make any investment.

NOTE:

You need to know how to cut glass for all of our classes beyond Stained Glass I. For our fusing, mosaic and jewelry classes you may take the Glass Cutting Workshop in lieu of a beginning stained glass class.

Some of our classes require previous glass cutting and copper foiling experience. Please check the requirements carefully. If you do not meet the prerequisites you will not be admitted into the class.

Beginning Stained Glass - CSN

This College of Southern Nevada beginning class is an alternative to our beginning class. We teach you how to use both the foil method and lead method of construction. We teach you how to cut, grind, foil, and solder glass components while making the first foiled project, a simple suncatcher. The second project is a leaded suncatcher. The third project is another foiled suncatcher. Tuition includes all supplies for the first and second project. You select from a wide array of free patterns and you purchase glass, foil, and solder for the third project.

The UNLV introductory class is an alternative to our beginning class. In this class you will learn how to cut, foil, and solder glass components while making the first project, a simple suncatcher. The second project is a leaded suncatcher. A third project is a ring dish that is fused in a kiln. The fourth project is a small plaque using Mosaic methods which can be used as a coffee mug trivet. The final project is a beveled glass candle votive with a chemically etched design. Tuition includes all basic supplies for the projects.

Cutting Workshop Instruction

Price is $25 for this class

This workshop is for those who only want to do mosaics, etc.. We will quickly teach you how to cut glass. We will schedule this as a one-on-one instruction which lasts about 90-120 minutes. This will be scheduled on request. Call to set up the time.

NOTE: You will need to know how to cut glass for all our classes past Stained Glass I.

  
 
 

Soldering Techniques

Class Price $40

This workshop is for those that wish to improve the looks of their soldering. We will give you hints on how to solder quickly and smoothly. We will also show you some of the decorative soldering techniques. We will supply the foiled glass You bring your solder and soldering iron. The student will spend much of the class time practicing, using the techniques being taught.

Fusing I

Class Price is $90

Using 90 COE glass, y ou will learn the fundamentals of fusing. We create an experimental glass tile, a night-lite, and an additional project. These three pieces will be taken to a full fuse. We also will create a piece that will be tack fused and then slumped into a square dish. We will furnish most of the supplies and the kiln time. You will furnish the creativity and some additional supplies if desired. The projects will be fired after class and you will need to return after a few days to pick up the final project.** You must know how to cut glass

Hot Glass Bends

Fusing II

Class Price $60

Using 90 COE glass you will create a round disk for fusing during week one which will be slumped or draped. You will also create one additional project to remain flat. We will furnish some supplies and the kiln time. You will furnish the base glass, creativity and some additional supplies if desired. The projects will be fired after classes. You will need to return a few days after the final class to pick up your final project. .** You must know how to cut glass, know the fundamentals of fusing , and have fusing experience

Foiled Again Stained Glass II

Class Price $100

This is the next step for our copper foil students. In this class you will learn how to make a small 12" x 15" panel. We begin with building a jig and end by teaching how to finish the edges with zinc. You purchase the approved pattern book and furnish all the materials. There can be homework for this class depending on your pattern selection and progress in the classroom. ** You must know how to cut glass and have experience working with copper foil

Lead Me Entertain You - Beginning Lead

Class Price $75

You will construct a panel with bevels and colored glass. Learn how to build a jig, where to start with lead when making a rectangular project and how to putty and finish the piece. You will purchase the glass and bevels, we will supply the patterns, lead, and other supplies. ** You must know how to cut glass

A Pane in the Glass Window Panels

Class Price $105

You will construct a panel up to 24" x 24". You choose the medium, foil or lead. If you choose lead, you must have worked with lead before. You will be learning how to use reinforcing and finishing the panel with zinc or lead. You will also learn how to measure windows for panels and learn the common installation procedure. You select and purchase the pattern and furnish all the materials. You will have homework that has to be done for this class. ** You must know how to cut glass and have built small panels like those created in the "Foiled Again" or "Lead Me Entertain You" classes

In this class you will make either a tray, wrought iron table, lazy susan, or wall plaque. Learn how to chip, glue and grout a mosaic design out of glass. We supply the pattern, you supply the materials. ** You must know how to cut glass

Light Up Your Life Panel Lamps

Class Price $65

Learn how to make an 8 sided panel lamp. Including how to build a lamp jig and the easy way to put the lamp together, and finish it with a spider or vase cap. We supply the choice of pattern and spider; you supply the other materials. ** You must know how to cut glass

We're All A Little Square - Beginning Boxes

Price is $40 for this one day class

We will make a 4" x 4" x 2" box using 2" x 4" and 4" x 4" bevels. Learn how to hinge the top and make a perfect square box using copper foil. You supply all materials.

This workshop will be completed in 2.5 hours. Homework is requied prior to the workshop. If you do not finish in the alloted time, you will have to finish at home or make other arrngements to finish during open workshop times.

"Heavenly Gifts" 3-D Angel

Price is $40 for this one day class

We'll be building a 3-D angel using lead came. In just a couple hours, you'll complete an angel. We furnish the pattern at the time you sign up. You will need to cut and grind the glass prior to the start of the class. You supply the glass, we will supply all the other materials.

This workshop will be completed in 2.5 hours. Homework is requied prior to the workshop. If you do not finish in the alloted time, you will have to finish at home or make other arrngements to finish during open workshop times. ** You must know how to cut glass

Recreating an Era - Tiffany Style Lamp

Class Price $130

Learn how to build a tiffany style lamp using the Worden system. You will have a choice of many patterns and sizes. You purchase the pattern and supply all materials. The class is designed to meet 7 times in 10 weeks. This will allow you extra time for completing the homework. Depending on the pattern you pick there can be over 80 hours of homework that will need to be done. ** You must know how to cut glass

Open Workshop/Studio Time

Price is $6 per hour

Half-hour increments of time for you to work on projects of your choosing with our guidance. The project must be in a category where you have already taken the class. You can use our tools and grinders, but you supply all project materials.

Students requiring special accommodation should advise us as to those needs when they are registering; and allow us 30 days prior to the class to make any special arrangements to meet their needs.
